Rosacea Treatment
Definition
Rosacea is a common, chronic skin
condition characterized by reddening,
pimples and/or swelling of the cheeks,
nose, chin, or forehead. Often in the
beginning stages, the cheeks and areas
beside the nose look sunburned or
"rosy." After some years at this
stage, the disease process advances and
the patient will develop small vessels
called "telangiectasias" in the affected
area.
At this
stage, the overall redness can be broken
down into two components: the
"flushed", "rosy" area around the cheeks
and nose and the tiny red blood vessels
that have developed in this same area.
With this in mind, Dr. Baker has
developed an effective two part strategy
for treating rosacea (see below).
In about 50%
of diagnosed cases, rosacea appears in
middle adulthood (30 to 50 years of
age). There is no cure for rosacea, but
it can be effectively managed and
controlled through proper treatment.
Left
untreated, severe cases of rosacea can
lead to enlarged pores and distorted
facial features, often characterized by
bumps and thickened skin on the nose (rhinophyma).
Treatment
Traditional
treatments include topical and oral
antibiotics, and avoidance of "triggers"(see
more about rosacea at
Rosacea.org)
Dr. Baker
has a particular interest in this
disease because he suffers from it
himself. After some years of trying all
the traditional antibiotic therapies
,topical creams, and natural products he
has developed a two part strategy for
treating rosacea.
First,
he found an all natural skin care line
that really calms the redness and it
does not have the dry, flaking effect on
the skin that topical antibiotic creams
or gels have. The product is "physician
only" product made by Physiodermie
for medical skin problems.
Second,
now that the redness is under control,
Dr. Baker has the perfect
solution for the small facial vessels
that have developed (see
Facial Vessels)

Using this two
part treatment is very easy because
Dr. Baker can treat your
small facial vessels with the laser and
send you home with the Physiodermie
physician only product in the same
visit!
